Wuxi County (Chinese: 巫溪县; pinyin: Wūxī xiàn) is a county of Chongqing Municipality in China. The population of Wuxi is 514,200,it covers 4030 square kilometers, its GDP per capita is $3500 in year 2010 (PPP per capita is $6900) and urban population is 43,000 according to 2010 census.

Sitting at the upstream of Daning River and the south foot of the Daba Mountain,east to Zhuxi County and Shenglongjia forest region, South to Fengjie County and Wushan County, west to Yunyang County and Kai County, north to Chengkou County and Zhenping County. The county of Wuxi is best known for its scenic view and its preserved Witchcraft-related culture.

Geography

The vast majority of Wuxi's land area is mountainous.

Wuxi has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) and experiences four distinct seasons. Winters are chilly and damp, although most years there are only one or two days of snowfall. Summers are hot and humid, with an average of 8.7 days exceeding 35 °C (95 °F) annually; occasional downpours or freak thunderstorms can be expected.

With a wet abundant precipitation, Wuxi County is suitable for many plants to grow, the local products are medicine nectar, starch, bacon, dried fruit, vegetables and antler.

Tourism is a large industry in Wuxi county, however due to the limited transportation infrastructure, its economy still lags behind the other counties of Chongqing. The natural resources are foremost preserved in all the counties of Chongqing, and its GDP growth rate is among the fastest of all counties in China.
